INLAND EMPIRE STRING CAMP

We encourage all of our string students to participate in this free day camp.  When the world gets a little closer to normal again, we hope to offer it as an overnight camp but this year we are running it as a day-camp.

WHO   any 7th - 12th grade string students from the Central Valley School District

• we will offer a middle school (7/8) combined orchestra

• we will offer a high school (9-12) combined orchestra

• all music is selected and provided by the camp directors

DATE   Monday, August 22nd - Wednesday, August 24th

CAMP LOCATION   Camp Lutherhaven (overnighter)

CAMP COST   $210 per camper (to be paid online, TBA)

PUBLIC CAMP CONCERT     Wednesday Evening, August 24th

• Dinner is available for non-campers, $15/person

• Pick up camper directly from the concert

String Camp is not required, we encourage it as a way to dust off the summer dust.  Grow some skills, meet and make new friends.  Have fun again!

Northeast Music Educators Association / WIAA State Qualifier

Saturday, January 29th @ Cheney High School

ALL DAY students have individual/small group schedules

Orchestra and Band students have elected to participate in this yearly event that features students in small groups or as soloists.  The highlight of their month long journey (sometimes longer), is the performance of their work for an adjudicator who has one bid in each category to the State Championships at CWU in April.

While it is impossible to forecast the competition, students learn along the way the value of working together: organization, team work, creativity, problem solving, listening.  These tools are part of the creative process and are the "soft skills" our community of employers are now expressing value over all things in their communities.  

The best part is all of the work is by student-leadership.  The teacher is intentionally hands-off and only helps when circumstances arrive to have a professional ear solve things.  We are really proud of the students, and their groups.  Here are details for the trip.

Everyone is expected to wear a face covering that covers their nose and mouth during their visit to Ridgeline HS.  Ride shares and families can sit together, but we expect all groups to sit with one chair between their group and adjacent groups so that we limit any contact tracing protocols.  Thank you!
